Hamburg - Day Two Part II

Hamburg – Day Two Part II

9th of July, 4:00 PM

According to plan a guided tour followed next. And for some reason we were all quite tired at the moment. Because we booked a bus for our whole trip, a woman boarded to our bus and told us a long rigmarole about every single detail what we've seen outside the windows. At first I found it pretty interesting considering I have been to Hamburg and didn't know that much about it, but later it got plainly boring.
I think I even fell asleep while listening to her. Before that I didn't even know I was able to sleep in a bus.
And then she said: "Now we'll alight from the bus to have a nice view over the Alster."
And Jan who sat behind me screamed through the whole bus: "Argh I slept so well!"
I'm not sure whether she heard it or not. So we had no other choice but to leave our nicely warm and comfortable bus. And it was cold outside. Really cold if you just wear a t-shirt and a thin coat. So we stood outside, at the beautiful Altster who wasn't that beautiful for us at the moment, and listened to that guiding lady in a collective, anti-cold cuddle.
You can imagine how happy we were when we were 'allowed' to go back to the bus and to had the opportunity to continue our nap =D.

9th of July, 6:00 PM

In the evening we were on our own again. Today the guys told us that they have had "dinner" at a Chinese snack bar which was in the Train station (which was easily reached in about 5 min from our hotel) and quite cheap. They went there again and we decided to go along. After our delicious 2,50 Euro fried noodles we didn't wanna go back to the hotel, because it was only 7 or 8 o'clock which was definitely to early to sit around in the hotel. The guys bought a six-pack of beer (for twelve people; fortunately I don't like beer) and we walked a bit through the shopping street of Hamburg. About two guys were also smoking and then we were approached by a friendly and about 25 or 30 year old man.

"Hi, I'm the drug-control director of…!"

No comment! We (not me though) were walking around with cigarettes and alcohol and that guy…
Of course we started laughing all of a sudden. He just asked us if we wanna donate for an organisation helping drug-addicted kids to keep them off the streets and provide a better future for them. Big-hearted as we are we all gave him our small coins and in the end he had about 26 Euro more than before. And yes, we were very proud after our generous act!

That was the end of another interesting day! Some more stuff happened in the evening, but it would be too exhausting to tell you about every single detail. But I'll give you some hints: drunken Hessians who didn't understand us again; massages of Jasmin, Meli, Holger and Björn (towards one another) that I refused; Katja alone in one room with Flo, who wore not more than boxer shorts, when the teachers came in; "Conversations" and more…

  1. I'm sure the view upon the Alster is awesome, but if it was that cold outside... :(
I've never been to a Chinese restaurant, I've heard it's quite an experience.
And I can imagine that unexpected meeting with the 'drug-control director' was scary!
